Red Fox

The Red Fox is more common on Long Island than most people are aware of. Red Fox can be found from New York City to Montauk. Red Fox can become a nuisance for homeowners with pets especially during the mating season and when vixen fox have their pups. If a small dog or cat gets too close for comfort it may be subject to an attack. Sometimes Red Fox take up residence under a deck or even under a barn or shed. One of the largest nuisance problems with Red Fox on Long Island is predation on nesting Piping Plovers.
